As part of the Athens_Wave project, energy studies have been conducted for 15 building complexes, including school facilities and other municipal structures, covering a total area of 45.016,66 m². These studies have highlighted significant potential for enhancing energy efficiency, leading to both energy and cost savings.
The expected outcomes include substantial reductions in energy consumption and CO2 emissions. Additionally, the proposed interventions are expected to lower operational costs and create opportunities for future initiatives.
In particular, the energy interventions planned for the 15 building complexes will trigger investments exceeding 14 million euros, projected to save more than 4,0 GWh of primary energy and reduce GHG emissions by over 3.925 tons of CO2eq annually — driving both sustainability and environmental impact.
Beyond the environmental and economic benefits, the project will also have a positive social impact. Staff training is planned to enhance their capacity to operate energy-efficient systems, and building users will directly benefit from the improvements. These users will, in turn, become advocates for energy-saving practices, helping to spread the benefits even further.
