Building complex #2: 17th Primary School, 56th High School and the 124th Kindergarten of Athens

As part of the Athens_Wave project, energy audits and techno-economic studies for the school complex housing the 17th Primary School, 124th Kindergarten, and 56th High School of Athens have been completed, revealing significant potential for energy savings and environmental improvements.

This building complex is located at the intersection of Ampelakion and Panormou Streets, 7, Municipality of Athens, covering a total surface area of 2.863,86 m².

The complex consists of three separate buildings, specifically:

  • Building 1: Housing the 17th Primary School and the 124th Kindergarten, with a building permit issued in 1979.
  • Building 2: Housing classrooms and offices for the 56th High School, with a building permit issued in 1979.
  • Building 3: Housing classrooms for the 56th High School, constructed between 1983 and 1989.

All three buildings were studied for energy upgrades.

The preliminary results, pending final alignment with the business plan, showcase the following expected improvements:

  • Energy consumption reduction: 73,68%
  • Annual primary energy savings: 247.517,44 kWh (equivalent to €14.790,60 saved per year)
  • Reduction in CO2 emissions: 71.880,27 kg annually
  • Operational cost reduction: from €19.536,50 to just €4.745,90 per year
  • Staff training: recommended for optimal use of energy-efficient systems
