Building complex #5: 2nd Experimental High School & Artistic School of Athens

As part of the Athens_Wave project, energy audits and techno-economic studies were conducted for the school complex located at 12 P. Kyriakou Street – Filimonos Tim. – Elenas Venizelou, Municipality of Athens. The complex consists of one building housing:

• the 2^nd Experimental High School and
• a second building housing the Artistic School of Athens,

collectively covering a total surface area of 4.741,47 m². 

Both buildings were studied for energy upgrades revealing significant potential towards transforming the complex into a more sustainable and cost-efficient facility, benefiting both the environment and the community.

The preliminary results, pending final alignment with the business plan, showcase the following expected improvements:  

• Energy consumption reduction: 84,25%
• Annual primary energy savings: 571.180,17 kWh (equivalent to €33.512,50 saved per year)
• Reduction in CO₂ emissions: 153.396,62 kg annually
• Operational cost reduction: from €40.092,60 to just €6580,10 per year
• Staff training: recommended for optimal use of energy-efficient systems
