Building complex #12: Cleaning & Engineering Department of the Municipality of Athens

As part of Athens_Wave, energy audits and techno-economic studies were conducted for the building located at 151 Iera Odos Street, Municipality of Athens, housing the Cleaning & Engineering Department of the Municipality of Athens. The building was constructed before 1955 and covers a total surface area of 3.799,88 m². 

The preliminary results, pending final alignment with the business plan, showcase the following expected improvements:

• Energy consumption reduction: 87,40%
• Annual primary energy savings: 767.032,79 kWh (equivalent to €56.153,40 saved per year)
• Reduction in CO₂ emissions: 222.573,34 kg annually
• Operational cost reduction: from €62.923,00 to just €6.769,60 per year
• Improved heating system: replacement of the old, inefficient heating system that currently runs on heating oil
• Staff training: recommended for optimal use of energy-efficient systems
