Building complex #4: 104th and 125th Primary Schools and 16th High School of Athens

As part of the Athens_Wave project, energy audits and techno-economic studies were conducted for the school complex housing:

  • the 104th and 125th Primary Schools and
  • the 16th Junior High School of Athens.

This building complex is located between the streets of Larisis 47 – Panormou – Karystou – Maiandropouleos 42, Municipality of Athens. It consists of one building housing the 104th and 125th Primary Schools, and a second building housing the 16th High School of Athens.

The construction year of the primary school building is 1978, while the other building was constructed between 1979 and 1983. The structures collectively cover a total surface area of 4.334,27 m².

Both buildings were studied for energy upgrades set to transform the complex into a more sustainable and cost-efficient facility, benefiting both the environment and the community.

The preliminary results, pending final alignment with the business plan, showcase the following expected improvements:

  • Energy consumption reduction: 86,06%
  • Annual primary energy savings: 345.334,02 kWh (equivalent to €26.425,10 saved per year)
  • Reduction in CO2 emissions: 96.632,33 kg annually
  • Operational cost reduction: from €29.780,80 to just €3.355,70 per year
  • Staff training: recommended for optimal use of energy-efficient systems
